Help - how to get the most from your House Advertiser
listing
Page Title Here
Our registration / property description form is reasonably self-explanatory,
but we have provided the following notes to help you get the best out of your
listing.
All boxes marked with an asterisk (*) are required - you should not leave them
blank.
Section 1: Your Account
When you type in a username and password, please remember it! You will need
these again to allow you to log into the website and edit your property advertisement.
Your email address must be a valid address that you use regularly. We will
use it to send you important information.
Section 2: Property Information
'Name' refers to the name of the web page your listing will create. We suggest
a short form of your address (like '25 The Cuttings, Neasden') which people
will remember.
'Heading' will appear on the search pages as the first line of information
next to the thumbnail photo of your property and also as the page heading on
your full property ad page.
'Short Description' will appear as the second piece of information on the search
page next to your thumbnail photo and as the introductory section (in blue)
of your full property ad page. We suggest just a couple of lines of text which
are 'to the point' and memorable in order to attract viewers.
'Long Description' is the main piece of descriptive text which appears on your
full property ad page, underneath your photos. You should try to include all
relevant information and use words which describe the property in an attractive
way without being misleading.
'Tenure' describes the type of purchase - freehold, leasehold etc.
HIPs - you must have a Home Information Pack in place before your property
can be marketed. Our terms and conditions make it clear that it is your responsibility
to have a HIPs before using our website to advertise your property.
HIPs Link - If your HIP info is stored on the HIP provider's website, you can
provide the URL (web address) to it here and your listing will link to it. Make
sure you include ALL the address including the 'http://'.
'Contact Phone' - this can appear on your listing so that purchasers can contact
you directly. Tick the 'Hide Contact Phone' box below to omit the number from
your property ad page.
Youtube Link - If you have a video of your property stored on Youtube, you
can provide the URL (web address) to it here and your listing will link to it.
Make sure you include ALL the address including the 'http://'.
Section 3: Property Location
'Town / Nearest Town' - It's important to enter this as it will be used when
people are searching for properties by town.
'Postcode' - Another important entry, as it is used in links to location maps
and extra information (petrol prices, childminders, train stations etc) on your
listing page.
Price: Use all digits without spaces or commas.
Sections 4, 5, 6: Image Files, floorplans and energy graph files
These all use common web image files such as GIF, JPG or PNG
You can upload a maximum of six digital photos for use in your property advert.
Digital photos can be large in file size (lots of megapixels) so if you upload
them without resizing them first it may take a long time. If you don't have
the software on your computer to do this, you could resize them using the free
website Pic Resize (the
maximum size you'll need on our site is around 400 pixels wide).
If you have the photos uploaded to the web already (perhaps on another property
website or on your blog) you can use the URL (web address) of the photo instead
of uploading it from your PC.
Energy graphs and Floorplans should be scanned to your computer from your HIPS
information. Some HIPS providers may give you these in JPG format ready to upload.
Section 7: Property Agent
If you are also using the services of an estate agent, you can include their
details here, including a link to their website (or even the page on their site
which displays your property). Make sure you include ALL the address including
the 'http://'. You should, of course, make sure that your contract with the
estate agent allows you to advertise on our website as well.
Payment Method
You can pay by credit/debit card using our secure PayPal account (you don't
need a PayPal account to pay this way) or via cheque. When paying by card, your
listing should become live as soon as the transaction is recorded successfully.
Paying by cheque will delay the availability of your listing until after your
payment has cleared.
